Nothing catastrophic thankfully. Just on a night ride, spinning on some relatively tame singletrack. All of a sudden there was a pop and a sound of air wooshing. I stopped, both tires were okay, looked at the shock and the air can had blown off.Mind sharing specifics about your setup and how it happened?
Did the canister rupture or did the air can just spin off?Nothing catastrophic thankfully. Just on a night ride, spinning on some relatively tame singletrack. How does them not telling you what the difference is equate to them knowing %100 that there is an issue?i called fox and asked what has changed in the shocks sold after the 9th, they won't tell me so again they knew 100% there was an issue and let us all use the shock, they are simply being forced to recall them in this fashion as that is what this part of our government does.
dude you don't get it do you. do the "math", they were able to make a change to the shocks as of September 9th, why would they make a change if they didn't know they needed one? Also since that change they have been selling the old shocks, also the government wouldn't force them unless they argued the voluntary recall. seriously I love fox products I buy them cuz I like them but this is disappointing and if you honestly don't understand the timeline you really just don't get it.How does them not telling you what the difference is equate to them knowing %100 that there is an issue?
Furthermore, they issued a voluntary recall. While the US govt absolutely can force a company to perform a recall in this instance Fox did this of their own free will. From the no-knowledge aspect of the notification it would seem to lend credence to the theory that they JUST found out about it and wanted to get the message out ASAP. If they had known about it for a long time they would already have some sort of working idea as to how to deal with the situation.
Well that's f*cking dumb. Just ride a hardtail.
The government can force a company to recall this product? Would love to know just which regulatory agency you think would do thatHow does them not telling you what the difference is equate to them knowing %100 that there is an issue?

Companys make changes to their product lines all of the time. Perhaps they found a different manufacturer, perhaps they wanted to update their product. All I am saying is, just because they made a change and they won't tell YOU why, does not give any degree of certainty that Fox had any knowledge that a product would fail.dude you don't get it do you. do the "math", they were able to make a change to the shocks as of September 9th, why would they make a change if they didn't know they needed one? also if the September change fixed the issue then they know what fixes it but they wont or cant tell me??? dude really?
Thank you, this is exactly to what I was referring. Perhaps I misspoke when I said 'the US Govt absolutely can force a company to perform a recall' instead I should have said, there are consumer protection laws which allow the govt to levy incredible fines and other penalties against a company if they refuse to perform a recall that the govt agency deems necessary.
Oh, I don't think you misspoke. If the CSPC says you recall something, it's going to be recalled.Perhaps I misspoke when I said 'the US Govt absolutely can force a company to perform a recall' instead I should have said, there are consumer protection laws which allow the govt to levy incredible fines and other penalties against a company if they refuse to perform a recall that the govt agency deems necessary.
that is interesting so this has been happening for months......guess i was 100% correct.Check out this X2 thread on the ibis forum about blown air sleaves starting at post #191 from April of this year.

No.... That is not what that means at all ha ha. You really do think a lot about your own opinion on this. You cannot say you were 100% correct unless someone comes out from Fox and literally confirms everything you said.... Or are you just exaggerating to try and sound superior?that is interesting so this has been happening for months......guess i was 100% correct.
