I recently bought a used (2005 or 2006) Fox 40 RC2 to add to my project bike. There was a good deal of stiction in the travel when I first got it, but a drain, flush and refill of the lubricating oil in the stanchions fixed that right up (oil oil was dark grey and almost sludge-like). Anyway, now I notice that when I statically compress the fork I can hear a swooshing sound coming from the right leg - from the damper when it compresses and rebounds. My old Marz Jr. T made a similar sound, but apparently it's normal for the Jr. T. Wondering if this sound is normal for the Fox 40 RC2 as well? Or, is this a sign of possibly some air in the cartridge that needs bleeding? Someone with Fox 40 experience, please help me out!
Here's a quick pic of the fork mounted up on my old-school rig...
