I was trying to change the bath oil and removed the High and Low speed knobs. I then threaded the bottom nut cover a little too tightly onto the bottom nut. Now I cannot remove the bottom nut cover from the bottom nut.

Any solutions to get the cover off?

you can use a cresent wrench with a rag over the cap. or a large pair of pliers with a rag as well.
im sure there are other ways, but its just a cap.
try not to dig into it and marr it all up.

I don't know if I understood correctly the first time.
I assumed you just overtightened the black cap, didn't realise the bottom nut was loose too.

Can you just unscrew the whole deal, cap and nut?
Then remove the cap from the bottom nut afterwards?
Isn't there some kind of detents in the bottom nut that you can put a spanner on?

FOX 40 owners, I have a similar problems. I cannot unscrew the bottom nut from the cartridge side. It just spins relative to the shaft. Any ideas? I called FOX who advised me to use a torch to heat up the nut.
