I just purchased a brand new pair of fox 36 forks from a private seller online. The forks were originally 160mm or 170mm and I requested to have them lowered by the seller to 140mm. The forks look great although I'm have a little trouble believing they're 140mm. Comparing them next to my old 130mm rock shocks the stansions look about an inch longer. Maybe there's something i'm missing? I measured from axle to bottom of steer tube on both forks to find the new forks to be about 5/8" longer which isn't too bad. Please check my pic.

A 29er Fox 36 at 140mm should have a 547mm A2C and a 27.5 would have 529mm A2C. You can measure from the center of the axle to the top of the fork crown to see how it matches up. You can also let all the air out and see how far it bottoms out, factoring just a bit more travel will come from the bump stop.

Mine is a 27.5" and I did measure both forks from axle to bottom of the steer tube. The new for measures 5/8" longer which equates to about 15mm so I'm starting to think everything is on point. Also my buddy pointed out that the new forks might have a little extra room so it doesn't touch if bottomed out.

I have a new 36 on one bike set at 160. Guess how long the stanchion is? 160.
Don't know what to tell you. This has come up a bunch and on every thread other people have confirmed the same thing I get measuring my Fox's.

Only have one Fox currently , 5 13/16'' (147.64 mm) showing on a 140 mm travel 34.

Interesting replies! Anyways now I'm having trouble finding the wheel I want that will somewhat match the dt swiss I have in the rear. These custom wheel building sites are backed up 4-6 weeks. Fining a complete wheel with a 350 hub is a nightmare.
