Who can gain the greatest percentage of their body weight before the new year.

The rules:
1. You can't cheat and stop training. In order to be in the competition you must do a minimum of 7hrs per week of training.
2. Weigh in is today or tomorrow and on January 1st.

Myself: I am coming in at a not so slim or trim 139lbs. I like my chances here. Although I am exercising the vast spreads of Christmas baking in front of me are more that enough replace and then some the calories I burn in a couple of hours of skiing.

i'm in, and i guarantee i will not win. will weigh myself tonight or tomorrow.

my metabolism is too fast, and i have no plans to eat/drink that much for the holdiays...with the exception of a couple giant homemade apple pies. plus...at ~185lbs, it'd take putting on a lot of weight to beat out a short skinny guy.
nice

I like it:)

I might have won this competition last year. I gained up big time with the help of a million or so calories from my in-laws. This year...I'm shooting to actually lose another lb or two. Count me out!

Are you 4 feet tall? Just wondering how 139 lbs is not slim or trim?
Shouldn't this be like golf where a low score wins?

I am well over 4 feet tall. I am even taller than 5 feet but not by a huge amount. :)

Race weight for me is 130lbs. So 139lbs is not so slim or trim.

You are 5'4" tall. Just a guess. No way I could gain very much, It just disappears.

Me too. I'm 6' 3" & hover in the 188-192 range year round.
I'll play....

LMN, I love this idea. It's hilarious.

We here are the opposite of all the 'I'm fat, need to lose weight' adverts/shows/weight loss programs spread throughout North America.

But first, your challenge is a bit of BS without age, and height as well. After all the older folks here probably have an easier time gaining than the young.

My vital stats are as follows: 6'5", 175 lbs, 46 years old.

The most I ever weighed was 192, twice. Once after 6 weeks of weight lifting and eating a ridiculous amount of food, and two winters back-from eating a ridiculous amount of food.......and not working out.

By Jan 1st 2010......I better get out the beer and eggnog...

People should also post what their 7 hours a week consists of. Presently mine consists of boxing, with a bit of elliptical and bike trainer thrown in. I really need to do weights more than anything.

For the record there's no way I've been at it 7 hours/week since the end of summer. I'll need to bump things up by about double.

I'm 40, slightly more than 5' 8" tall, and weighed in at 139.2 this morning. I just started some weight training, so I'm hoping to put on some leg muscle but otherwise doubt I'll gain much weight--I'm your average working stiff and will actually get to ride more than usual during the holidays as I try to slow down at work a little. And I'm heading to Pisgah after Christmas, so with some good luck with the weather I'm hoping to get in some big rides in the mountains.
It's going to be hilarious if you guys are still trying to lose the weight in April.
Isn't LMN a pro or sorta pro rider? He probably has great genetics/work habits and can easily get his weight down.
Go easy on the Cheetos guys or you might be sorry. :)

I'm 5'8". I weighed 130 pounds a few years ago when I biked and ran a lot. Everyone thought I had some kind of disease because my face was so bony. People would actually stop me and ask if I was ok. I guess I looked sick but i was actually in the best shape of my life. I weigh under 150 right now and plan on being 140 pounds of muscle this summer.
5 foot 7, and weighing in today at 129 pounds. I get into an anorexic phase whenever I go past 130, so I'm sitting out for this one.

Me Pro??? No way. My wife and my housemates are all good Pros but I am just an average Joe like everyone else here. I tried to get everyone else in the house to join in but there was no takers. Although today when we were XC skiing Catharine was pulling away from me on the descents, she said it was the structure of the bases but I think is quietly participating.

More specifics.
Weight 139lbs.
Height: 5'5
Age: 32
Peak weight achieved 145, minimum as an adult 133lbs.
Ideal race weight if I was a Pro about 127lbs.

Weekend workouts:
Saturday: 2hrs Skate ski, 2hrs Snow shoes.
Sunday: 3hr Skate ski.

Now this could be a problem for this challenge but rest assured that on the other end of the equation, the food side, I am pushing hard. I am not going all out though, I did not put Eggnog on my Fruit Loops this morning (if any one did that I am seriously impressed).

I love this idea. I'll be forwarding this to all my competitors in the local series along with gift cards to the best bakery in town.
I think you're being modest. Something tells me you're definitely not the average Joe. I knew you were married to a big shot but I wasn't sure if you were also a pro or some kind of coach/trainer.
I can picture the look on the their faces when you asked them to join in on the challenge.

"uh, no. I think we'll pass" :p
I didn't see this before today but I have plenty of ammo to achieve your goal ;)

It's not eggnog, but I have substituted half & half for milk in my cereal before. Picked it up from my dad.

I'll join in for the heck of it.

Starting weight: 182 lbs.
Age: 48
Height: 191.5cm

A minimum of 7 hours of training every week? Dang, that's getting close to my maximum number of hours at my age. This is day 2 of the challenge and I got 40 minutes on the trainer yesterday, 35 minutes today.

I'm already down to 180 lbs. I think I'm going in the wrong direction. Where's the cheesecake?:D

I'm jealous and would really love to try that Obsidian Stout. Never had it. I'm on the east coast and rarely get to drink stuff from Deschutes. Black Butte Porter and Mirror Pond Pale Ale are two of the best I've ever had.
