May be taking the family up the coat to get out of the current smoke conditions for the weekend. If so, what trails should I look at doing while in the area? A google search comes up with alot of state park, mild tourist type trails. Im looking for the most climb and the more technical the better.

Thanks for sharing.

Fort Bragg Rides

State Parks trails open to bikes near Fort Bragg are all on access roads. They are well marked and go through beautiful scenery are about 6-8 miles out and back, and fairly flat. Loop rides can be accomplished by hitting roads.
Jackson State Forest has over 400 miles of roads that are mostly closed to motor vehicles. Road numbers can be found on most gates to help you find your way. Trails are hard to find but worth the effort. The trails around the Mendocino Woodlands are some of my favorite and are fairly well marked. Catch a Canoe and Bikes Too in Mendocino, or Fort Bragg Cyclery will be glad to point you in the right direction. A group ride starts from F.B. Cyclery on Sunday a 10am and ends around 4pm if you are up for a long fast pace ride. Here is a link to some trail maps. Enjoy!
