I have a Titus Fireline with a fox fork with 120mm of travel. Could this be too much travel? Would decreasing my travel help improve the handeling of my bike? thanks in advance...
The bike appears to be designed around a 100mm fork, so I don't think 120mm is crazy or dangerous.
Can shortening the fork change the handling? Yes. "Improving" depends on what you consider good and bad
Do you think the front end feels too light on climbs? Do you think the steering feels too slow? Shortening the fork would improve that. (sorry, that last one wasn't supposed to be a question)
I will double down on above said comment.
You may get snappier handling, but on the descent that extra inch is worth it!!
I ran a 120mm on my Niner Sir9 and, to quote LoverBoy, was "Lovin every minute of it...Lovin'"
Admittedly I am a travel junkie. I have an FS SS 29er, a 5" FS 29er and soon to have a 6" FS 29er, so grain of salt my O-pin-E-on.
got ya...thanks guys. I am considering a lefty conversion and I think those only have 80mm of travel. I race xc and xterra tris and was looking for something to drop some weight as well as improve my handeling.
