I'm going to build a bike based on an Azonic Steelhead, and I'm looking for a fork suited to all mountain and light freeride. I'm thinking something like 150mm.

Right now I'm looking at the Marzocchi 2006 z1 sport at pricepoint, and the Manitou Nixon Elite 2006 also at price point.

Is the z1 over kill? I plan on doing a fair amount of climbing with this bike, so I want it to be able to handle that decently.

Any other suggestions that I should check out? Adjustable travel would be nice.

Thanks,

es

Look at the 2006 Z1 Light ETA that can be lowered during uphill, another option could be the RS Pike (even if only for 140 mm)

'06 Z1 Light is very hard to find new.

Between the Z1 Sport and Nixon Elite, the Nixon has better damping. ('06 version has TPC+) And, maintenance is pretty easy on semi-bath Manitous.

PIKE all the way

Pike is a great fork. Used one for almost a year on my RFX...light, u-turn, strong and stiff.
