Im about to get an Azonic Steelhead and im not sure on which fork to get.
I'll probably ride 70% urban 30% freeride with some xc in there somewhere.
Do i get a 4" fork like a dj1 or something with 5" like a z1
Im about 215lbs. Are there any forks i should stay away from? Also i'd like to pay less than $400.
What should i get?

You can get a fork with travel adjust, wind it way down for urban, and run it at full travel for the other days. Rockshox Pike sounds pretty good for what you do. They can be had for around 300. The new Z1 has something about 130 to 150 mm travel with the same cartridge, but different pressure in the negative chamber. Not really sure about that.

The Z1 FR1 is awesome...find an 05 somewhere and you could get it for 400$ (try downshiftcycles.com, email them cuz will go lower than what the site says).

I have an 04 Z1 with the ETA travel adjust. I've only used the lower travel setting for climbing so far but I don't see why it wouldn't work just as well for urban riding also.
