Is it just me or have we gone off the deep end on epic rides here? Not that I have anything against them:thumbsup:

What are the mere mortals up to these days? :p

This new baby business, new dog, new house, and 4.5 year old all have me running in circles. I actually went most of June without riding due to house projects and social engagements :madman: . So here we are approaching mid July and now I am scrambling to get enough saddle time so that I don't blow out in Downieville. Why on earth did I think that this year would be a good time to double up and run the xc as well. I am hammering out as many long rides as I can squeeze by the wife, but this is equating to 2-3 rides at 2-3 hours a week. Not sure if it is enough, but come the end of the month I'll give it hell up that climb out of Sierra City :D

On the bright side my never ending upgraditis has kept me off the drugs and out of the streets. Thanks to one of the mtbr SS'ers I have added a second hand RockLobster to the stable. It is rigid, beats the snot out of me, but also has impressed me. I am officially back on the SS wagon (or is it fallen off the wagon back to the dark side:D). I scared the daylights out of someone yesterday because they didn't hear me coming up to pass. My other projects have included rebuilding my shocks, getting my hardtail up and running, tuning the blur, and starting another project bike. The stable is now up to 5 complete bikes and 1 partial. The road bike hasn't been getting any love lately though.

Obviously my bike passion hasn't wained. If only I could find more hours in the day and a babysitter :D

If time is short, nothing beats a road ride for getting some miles from the legs. Plus, when you finally do find time for dirt, you can ride it for all it's worth.

Somebody make you do all these things? ;) We all have the same number of hours in our days, we just choose to use them differently. I'm a mere mortal and I'd rather ride.

Yeah, but you are old so I am sure the family cuts you more slack :D :p :)

Jorge,
The SS has a 34x18. For the Santa Cruz mountains it works well. Kind of spins a bit much for flat ground or downhill, but any bigger and I get beat down.
