Shamefully I am a member of this club. I coasted about 3/4 of the way before taking the first pedal stroke at which point my bike decided that it would rather be on top of me than below me. "Ride on the green stuff, there's more traction" they said, but I was pretty sure that was bollocks. I believe it was in November.. it turned out to be a cold ride.

I joined the Corn Mill Shoals Sploosh club yesterday. I've ridden it succesfully but took the plung yesterday. My theory is the hot weather has promoted alge growth making it slicker than it was when I was successful back in the winter.

I like your theory _hank. . . I seem to be in the almost make it across then hip check the rock half in half out of the water club. I have fallen just as many times as I have made it successfully which is a lot.

The tan algae is very slick. The furry green algae has good traction. The good green algae only seams to grow in the deeper faster moving waters. Perhaps it has to do with the weather. It's very patchy at the moment and you need luck on your side to successfully ride across.. In years past there was a thick bed of furry green algae and you could ride across without much trouble.
