Hi guys. Bought this Focus Black Forest 29er, 3.0 Focus - Bikes | 2013: Black Forest 29R 3.0 | bike last year and has been pretty satisfied with how it works. But quite some of the stuff on it is rather heavy. Stock wheelset, fork and so, so wondering if you guys think it might be worth it to upgrade it, wait and replace stuff that breaks or save for a more expensive bike alltogether?

Here is a list of stuff on it:
Rockshox XC32 air fork, works fine but HEAVY - 2100g or so
Stock wheelset, 2000+ g
XT rear derailleur
SLX front derailleur
Deore shifters
Deore crank with SLX chainrings

I paid 1300$ for the bike and I guess a decent upgrade would be wheels for 500$ or so and a Reba fork for something like 560$, those upgrades would make the bike around 2 pounds lighter, but are also close to the total value of the bike. I can most likely only afford one of the upgrades this year and thinking wheels would have highest priority.

IMO, there is nothing you can do that will make more of a noticable impact on the performace of your bike than replacing a crappy set of wheels with a lighter, tubeless ready set of wheels. You can get a set of Stans wheels for $400. I think they weigh around 1600 grams, but will be more noticable due to the fact that it is rotational weight. Not to mention the fact that you will get very few to no flats when utilizing a tire sealant.
