flux w/ float rl vs. burner w/ same. a comparison
look... this really doesnt mean crap but its on my mind as i just got back from a ride. beauty day by the way. 45 deg with a wind chill of about 33 deg, sun shinin, dog followin and sharein the trail with a good friend, both of us on great bikes.
so my rp3 went tango uniform last week and i decided to try out a '04 float rl in its place till the bits arrive from fox. the ride was quite interesting as we railed the soft ground between the leaves which seemed to part for us all the way round the loop. traction was almost too good and semed to sorta suck my fire xc pros down into the soil on climbs while moh told me they would roost everytime i accelerated, cornered or climbed.
what i noticed was the non platform shock almost made the flux feel like a faster, more nimble burner as it squished beneath me under power but showed its more plush nature when things got fast and bumpy. climbs were a bit more of a effort to be sure but not as much as expected. any trouble i had was more due to fitness than dampers. i havent been on the bike due to rain and shock failure since i got back from az 2 weeks ago. overall, not a bad ride mind you but i do prefer the rp3 and its more solid feeling characteristics. it might be cool to swap it out the other way when its back on line. hopfully very soon!
