Flightline Agenda Postponed

The Open Space and Trails Citizens Committee of Carlsbad has postponed the release of their report to the City Council. Flightline is not on the agenda for tonight's City Council meeting. (01/23/07)

However, RideFlightline.com will still have a speaker address the City Council during the Public Comments session. Because this item is not on the agenda, the speaker will be limited to 3 minutes. This is an important opportunity to inform the City Council and the public of the value of Flightline. If you can make it out tonight to show your support, the meeting details are listed below.

The Open Space and Trails Citizens Committee report will be addressed at a future City Council meeting in February. We would also like supporters present at this later meeting. Watch Trail-News announcements for the rescheduled date.

Meeting Location: Carlsbad City Hall, 1200 Carlsbad Village Dr. Carlsbad 92008 ?(1 block east of the 5) Meeting starts at 6:00pm

Carlsbad Meeting

I believe the meeting went well. The council was addressed as to the nature of our request which will be further addressed on Feb. 7th at 6:00pm at city hall. Our speaker was in shiirt and tie and presented the council as well as the mayor with a pamphlet describing Flightline. An explanation concerning Flightlines importance as nurturing open space for the citizens of north county and the benefits to Carlsbad's Open Space plans were touched on. At the next meeting the city council will be up to speed and is probably anticipating another big turn out from us. It was great when our speaker was done and they watched as nearly half the auditorium stood as one and left. One of the city councilmen individually approached our group outside to make sure we had the right time for the next meeting. Not bad for three minutes of time. Feb 7th lets fill the place. It isn't that big so it is entirely possible. All riders bring your helmets. A couple of guys did and it went over great. A runner stood up also and he was fantastic. If you are a hiker, runner, walker, had your dogs there, took your kids there whatever be there and exercise your rights. I did and it wasn't too bad. The council actually expects you to get up there. You can fill out a card when you get there and you get up to three minutes. You don't have to use it all. Just go on record for thirty seconds. It is all good.
