Next year, I'm going to [try to] do this race. On my fixed Steamroller. Almost 10k ft in elevation gain and 8k ft of descent (since I'm on a fixed, this will also matter). Most of the climb is at the first 100 miles. According to the course description, 7% is the max grade. I'll be geared 48x17, I think. I may drop to 48x18.

I don't frequent roadie forums. So by chance, any of you here done anything like this? Any tips or advice? My biggest worry is my gearing. I think I'm going to put on a bail out FW on the flop side. I'll also be doing several centuries prior to the race, so I should have a good idea if I've got the right gearing.

People have done the Furnace Creek 508 on fixed gear bikes, so 200 miles should be a walk in the park, eh? :skep:

I have never done more than 80 miles but that was on my dirt jump bike.
but I know that with the right training I could do anything, and so can you.
good luck and god speed.
