Does anybody have any experience with fitting a 27.2 seatpost to a '06 MKIII? I'm trying to get a Thomson Set Back post to fit. IH had informed me that the inner diameter of the seat tube is 30.8, but a 27.2 to 30.8 shim came out to tight. The bike was originally shipped with a 30.0 post, which seemed a little bit loose. The correct size might be somewhere inbetween. Did anybody exchanged his post for a 27.2 and can give me some guidance on the right shim size.

P.S.: Once the post is fitted my trail bike should be ready for its virgin test ride. I'll post some pictures before I get it all dirty

The right shim size would be 27.2 to 30.0 It shouldn't have been loose maybe it wasn't tightened enough originally.

Affirmative... I used a 30.0 to 27.2 to on mine and it worked out fine, no slippage.

Sam Hill uses a 30.0 to 27.2mm shim on his Sunday...no 30.0 carbon posts on the market
