So looking for new fork for my Tallboy. I hear the Grip2 has so much more tuneability but then hear the Fit4 is a great set it forget it. Will be running in 130. Looking more for small bump & chunk compliance than big hit. Also Fit4 a bit less expensive. Suggestions please!!

I've had several of both in the 34 iteration, and IMO the Grip2 is much more plush and soft-feeling over small and large bumps. I'm light and run them both fairly wide open in compression. Heavier riders may have different views, but that's what I've found. I use the Fit4 on my Exie (XC bike) and like the "crispness" of it on that short-travel bike. I like the Grip2 more on my other bikes.

This is consistent with my experience as well, only on 36s. For me, the GRIP2 + Luftkappe is the answer. It is everything I want in a fork. There is nothing I wish for with it.

The one thing that FIT4 has over GRIP2 is that you can get a Vorsprung Fractive tune on a FIT4, but not on GRIP2. But that's all I can think of.

Have the Grip 2 36 on my Mach 6. I'm 155lbs and mostly ride bike parks (Killington, Thunder, Mountain Creek). Fit 4 has more tunability, but Grip 2 has enough for me. Absolutely LOVE it. Can't say I have much to compare it to, I've only had RS forks before this, but I couldn't be happier with it. Kinda hard to go wrong with either, just depends if you like to get micro with your suspension.

Grip2>Charger>>>Fit4

I would never get a Fit4, if the options of a lightweight fork are between a Pike Ultimate or 34 Fit4 then I would get the Pike. Grip2 vs Fit4 is a no brainer. When I rode a 36 with Fit4 no amount of adjustment could get it as good as my Lyrik, it felt multiple generations behind, just harsh and poor traction.

I feel like the only reason the Fit4 still exists is so marketing can get an extra feature checked off with the lockout because for some reason people think they need a fork lockout.

I will add that with the GRIP2 (or at least the one I am currently running with the Luftkappe), the adjustability is incredible. You can easily feel the difference with even one or two clicks of any of the adjustments. Tuning it on the trail is quick and dead simple, and you can button fiddle to your heart's content, if that's your jam. I have had a blast with the GRIP2 + Luftkappe setup.

I should add that I am 185 pounds plus gear. I suspect that I am smack dab in the sweet spot for Fox's standard tune. Not sure how much benefit I would gain with a Fractive or other custom tune. For my weight, riding style and terrain, Fox almost nailed it (the Luftkappe perfected things). I can't relate at all to all the hate at this forum for all things Fox. I have owned over 25 bikes, with all sorts of forks. I currently have 2 Manitous in the stable.

For me, Fox. All day long.

You nailed it, you are the perfect target weight for factory damper tunes, me at 145lbs I'm outside that so all forks feel terrible for the most part except for the Mezzer I'm trying on my trail bike, but nothing compares to my Avalanche stuff I normally run.

Mezzer is great. I would place it as a step above the grip 2. But I also have a F34 grip2 and it's been good. No complaints. Every adjustment seems to do something and the fork feels like it has consistent support through it.

The RS stuff and I never really got along. I would add low speed to my Lryik RC2 and it would just feel harsh.

Mezzer I can crank ls in all through way if I need to and fork still feels great. The Grip2 isn't quite as good, but it's still a solid option.

No experience on a Fit4 yet.

Fit4 with a Fractive tune (so pre 2020 FIT4 cartridge). The Fox 34 I had Fractive tuned is by far the smoothest fork I have ever run

I have a 2018 34 on one bike and a 2021 on the other. Both are Fit 4 and the 2018 feels better to me in almost every way. Not sure what the deal is. They’re both 140mm. I run the 2018 in the middle position and the HSC is amazing.

What shock are you running? If an X2 or DPX2 it'll mate up best with a Grip2 cartridge. Also, the Grip2 likes to be run nearly open compression so it should meet your "compliance" goal. The Grip2 is not that hard to tune either - just follow Fox recommendations for sag/pressure and for rebound, and then start with the compression settings wide open or only a couple clicks in. I'd go with the Grip2 in any case, but that's my preference.
