DT Comps are the standard rec.
I agree the comps are pretty much the standard when it comes to MTB wheels with the right balance of strength, stiffness, and weight. Personally think the Revos shouldn't be used for MTB wheels.

DT SuperComps seem to be the best lightweight alternative without going stupid light. The Wheelsmith DB14 spokes are the next less much expensive option.

+1 for dt comps, just as strong as straight gauge with weight savings for not much extra coin

Wheelsmith DB-14 are great spokes too. They're 2.0/1.7

Harder to find, but lighter and just as durable as DT Comps for the same price...I got a set of road wheels I built in 2001 (Ultegra/Open Pro/Wheelsmith DB-14/Alloy Nipples) that are still going strong.

Universal Cycles carries a good selection of them
