I am looking at picking up my first SS bike and there is a used one that seems to fit me. I am wondering if the price is reasonable. I have not inspected the bike in person as of yet but the specs are:

19" Redline Monocog 29er with the only upgrade being mechanical disc brakes. The pedals and grips are not included. He is asking $400

What year model?(if not sure then what color is it?). How used is used?
Are the tires in good shape? Wheels true? I bought mine new for 420$ on
sale as a leftover at my lbs.

2007 Monocog 29er. The guy says that it is used with very few marks and everything is in good shape with lots of life left.

I doubt I would be able to get a good sale on a bike at this point in the season for left overs.

Sounds reasonable to me. What kind of mech. brakes?

He said he got 6" mechanical brakes (6" rotor and calipers) from Nashbar and is using the standard brake levers (Tekno). He also stated the chainring and cog are showing a little wear.
