Everything else was closed due to rain, but we took the weather man's word and went riding anyway. Should have known. This is a local favorite for we northern Virginians--anyone recognize it? It starts off with a long climb up Signal Knob, then one can descend the other side; from there it is a flat fire road section to Mudhole Gap Trail and on back to the parking lot from there. We were fortunate enought to make it to Mudhole Gap before the rain started, but it really came down after that. We were soaked and sandy by the time we got back to the car. When we started the temperature was in the low sixties, but it was right around fifty when we left. Damn cold. But damned fun. Enjoy the pics.

Is that at Elizabeth Furnace, or should I guess a little further down the Shenandoah Valley? Havent been out there in a few years.....but damn that brings back some good memories. It also looks like sections of the GW, Douthat, and just about anywhere else in the Commonwealth.....all good stuff.

Yeah, it's the Furnace.
Cool pics. Your gal is definitely tough if she is riding there. I love the Furnace and all the rocky bits, but I wouldn't take my wife there. She'd hate me. Bad.

Rain sucks, but when I was at Gambrill on Sunday the ride started off with a little snow, which turned into hail.
That looks like a great trail. I'd like to ride that myself.
looks great

A little wet. I wish we had trees like that to ride through.
Thanks for sharing.

I think snow/hail has us beat. Gambrill can bring the rocks too. We'll all have to get a ride together soon.
