Proof that "NorCal" is a HUGE geographic region with many, many microclimates. One guy is smoking, the other guy has already got the red out.

Usually the fire guys go back in with the heavy equipment during mop-up operations after the fire is out and put in drain dips on the firebreaks. Otherwise they can get nailed by the enviros for causing erosion and sedimentation of creeks. Moving dirt around before they have finished is pretty pointless. The drain dips usually include large humps of dirt across the firebreak. Not that that would be convenient or anything.
