Finally thinking about pulling the trigger on some 29+ wheels and tires.

After 4 years with my Canyon, I'm tired of swapping 4.0 Jumbo Jims and 4.8 Bud/Lous seasonally. The Surly set sure as hell feel slow after JJs, so I try to swap over as late as possible.

I'm looking at LightBicylce carbon rims with DT350 hubs. Certainly not the lightest hub, but I have swapped internal 370s on my 26 fats, and 350s on my full susp without issues.

For tires, not entirely sure, but thinking of 2.8s to balance speed and grip. I am finding my full suspension bike used less and less based on missing grip on North East rocks and roots. I do get a number of pedal strikes on the JJs, another reason I'd like the larger wheels.

Any recs for others to look at? I've never had carbon rims, but love this bike and if there is a time to give it a try and lighten the bike up, so be it.

Carbon rims for sure just pick the right width. The 29x3.25 Bulldozers look like a good rock and root tire.

A bit larger of a tire than I was looking for, as I'd like to keep the bike nimble as I can, keep wheel in forward dropout setting.
2.8" Rekons are good all-rounders.

I like at least a 35mm rim for that size tire, but have happily run them on 40's. Pick your preference -- speed vs. traction.

The bulldozer 29x3.25 is a great tire, but I’d only run it in the rear. Duro Crux (or Miner) 29x3.25 is your front. If you can find any of them…. :(

Never heard of them. I'll check it out thanks.
XR2 would make a good summer tire.

I love the Bontrager XR2 as a rear tire and an XR4 as a front tire. I've also run the XR2 rear and a Vee Bulldozer up front and been very happy.

I am running cake eater 2.8 tires on my fat bike for summer riding. DT hubs and spank rims. 2.8 cake eaters are great all around tires. Tried bontrager 3 inch team xr2 tires but they had too small of knobs for my traction taste. They are for sale if anyone is interested.
29+ coronado's seem to be a really good balanced tire for loose over hard pack and hard pack. Rolls well on pavement also.

Great tire for the rear - super durable. Not so great up front.
