So, what shoes are on the "must consider" list these days? Lots of XC riding, recreational level racing, and "wannabe AM" stuff for the most part. I'm not overly concerned about cost, but I don't need a name brand just for the sake of having it (in other words, I'm looking for the most "bang for the buck").

Thanks.

Bontager has a new very nice shoe out. I have also heard good things about Sidi. I just get some dominators from chainreactioncycles for 150.

I have Sidi Giau Mega MTB Bike Shoes, and they are AWESOME! I have a hard time finding dress shoes that will fit me, cycling shoes are a whole 'nother story! I have WW feet and these get a huge thumbs up from me! Longest I have had them on was probably 4 hours and my feet felt fine afterwards!

I think these'll be my first pair of MTB shoes.
Slightly more flexible than hardcore MTB shoes for easy
"pick up bike and run or walk" capability for the type of trail riding I like to do.
Their discontinued I think, but I'll find a pair somewhere.
:)

Time MXS Shoe

I really like the shoe it is light and really durable not to mention that it is a lot cheaper than most shoes. Check out there is a review of it on www.mtbiking.ca. I like the shoe a lot but we all have different feet so take time and make sure you bring the socks you are going to wear when riding when you go try shoes on at you local shop.
