I ride this place alot, and am wondering what others loops there are like?

Generally, I either descend Revolution.climb Salamander/Manzanita, or I reverse it.

Whats your favorite loop? Does it include any of the outer trails?

I like to start out from the vista point out to tafoni to the bottom of the creek, turn around and go back up, then up resolution. From this point, its either down manzinita/big sallymander then finish with leaf.

If i'm feeling optimistic, will bypass big sally and go out to the singletrack that takes you down to the lower gate on hwy35, hop on the road a bit and hit steam donkey/blue blossom and then back up to do big sally. Lawrence creek off bear gulch is really fun too.

park on star hill, down leaf to methusela, up meth. to the top, down manzanita and back up to the top again ( mix in crosscut to gordon mill to steam donkey if you are feeling good ) and then down tafoni to leaf and back to the car.

Skegg's

The best loops are the ones not on the map. Clapping Monkey to High Five to Roller Coaster to Challenger to Committment to Sammy Miller to Panic Attack to Lost and Found and out.

Never heard of any of those......I don't get down to the Bay much anymore but I would love to get a tour some time...please post in advance next time you do that stuff....would love to join ya some time....

My favorite Skeggs "double" loop is pretty standard I guess

start @ CM2...take sierra morena? (whatever the top ridge trail that follows skyline) out to Fir Trail to Resolution to El Corte to North Leaf to Meth (up.....and over) to Manzanita (seems like every where I ride in has a manzanita trail) to cross cut.....then back up to CM2....tons o fun!

The bad news is all of these trails aren't "sanctioned" by the Mid-Pen.

ie, illegal? you shouldn't be riding illegal trails. it's not prudent. if you do, you shouldn't be posting it on a high traffic forum...not directed at you gobike69, your comment was just a convienent jumping point.

the map you are talking about? I only have the old El Corte Map that has been around for years.
I haven't seen many trails off limits to riding at Skeggs.Ive got a few different maps over the years and I thought everything was cool except some handicap accessable trails near the top.Ive ridden here off and on for the last 12 years and the only "nonsanctioned" trails I was aware of were all the freeriders trails....Anyway to get back on the point,Any good "loops" need to include Southleaf and Virginia mills trails. These will give you the most technical riding in the park(legal,I think) and probably the most climbing.

My friend and I just started riding Skeggs 4 wks ago. We always start at CM02. 2 times we started by going down meth, turn on the connector to fir to resolution. Then go left onto El corte trail to north fir back to meth.

1st time we hike-a-biked up salamander, then rode timberview back to meth and CM02.

2nd trip we went left down sierra morena so we could ride steam donkey. Then we hike-a-biked up timberview back to CM02. Rested then went meth to fir to resolution, this time rode back via el corte to CM01 and tafoni to sierra morena

3rd time was abbreviated, sierra morena to fir to resoution to el corte to north leaf to meth to fir to sierra morena. My friend likes sierra morena a lot.

I was curious about starting off @ CM08 or CM10 cause I love climbing.
