The USFS has tentative plans to burn the southern loops at Forks Area Trail System (FATS) on Friday March, 14th. The burn is dependent upon weather, but, if the burn does occur, the southern loops will be officially closed until Monday.

We'll let you know when the USFS shares more information with us about this prescribed burn.

Thanks for the heads up! I have a camping trip planned down there in early April. Hopefully no burns that weekend

How is FATS after all the weather?

As of 10 days ago, Tower, Big Rock Deep Step and Skinny were 100% cleared of ice storm damage. Brown Wave had less then 3/4 of a mile to be cleared and Great Wall had a few miles to be cleared. Over 1200 trees were cut either by hand of chain saw.

I rode another local trail (Bartram) Tuesday after work and it was in good shape. Water table is still high and wet spots will be around 'til the leaves emerge. Yesterday/last night it was very windy and I am sure some limbs/trees came down.
