Seeing the good response Peter got here, I'll give it a go. I'm also building my own endomorph-on-100mm-rim bike. Right now my dilemma is fork geometry, specifically how much rake to use, or how much trail to shoot for. Where I'm from, and based on my preferences, the riding is about 50/50 split between:

1.) light snow cover, highly technical (it was a good day if there were few dabs and nothing got broken in a low speed crash) tight twisty singletrack riding.

2.) snowmobile trails, mostly the sort without any straightaways or flats.

Lots of trail, little trail, something in between? I'm mostly interesting in why, from anyone with snow bike experience, and an opinion on the subject.

The top tube is 25.5", which is 1" longer than the top tube on my summer ride, which feels a hair cramped.

My initial thoughts were to run a 70-70.5 degree head angle with about 2.25" of fork rake, which with a 29" rolling diameter, gives about 2.75" of trail (same as my summer ride), not including any pneumatic trail. It looks like the pugsley fork has only about 1.7" of rake, for trail around 3.3"

Going through the math to figure that all out makes me think I actually want even more fork rake for less trail, since there is probably some significant pneumatic trail... It also makes me wonder if anyone actually figured out and selected trail numbers for the pugsley, or if they just used a fairly standard fork rake because it is fairly standard....

can we get a shot of the fork straight on. i want to see how much room there is between the tire and the fork leg. also what size rim is that. and is the fork the Race Switchblade or the Race x light
