Well I ordered a SASS and got it in....this thing is heavy.....what is the best component changes I can make to shave some weight from this pig?

not too much that can be done to lighten...the brake set up adds a bit. ditch the rear disk caliper, flip the wheel, ditch the the freewheel and bolt on a disk mount cog...now ditch the rear brake lever and associated cable...voila, weight shaved. most of the weight on these guys is in the rear end anyway.

What size is the bike? What were you riding before? I'm just trying to gauge what you think is heavy.

Incidentally, do you know the diameter of the seatpost? [This has nothing to do with your question. I was going to post this question to the board, but I figured you might know.]

It is a 2005...the chrome one...my other MTB is a pretty light XC race bike ~23 lbs. My budget is ultimately unlimited as I won't do all upgrades at once.
