Wanted to know if the little rubber piece and stock collar is required, or if the Salsa Liplock will work in it's place- and if so what size? I believe the seatpost is 29.4mm so 30.6mm seat collar?

IIRC, the fat chance (at least the one I have) has an eyelet out the back of the seat tube that the clamp slides over. You may be able to use the salsa one, as long as it lines up with the eyelet.

I think the collar on my is a DKG or something along those lines, BMXy.

You can cut that tab off with no real damage to the bike and indoing so allows other collars to work.

You're still around!?

Can you believe it!

I get tired of the other forums talking about how fast or what a better rider they are or how they have more experience because they have lots of travel on their bike, a 29er, carbon wonder, etc, blah, blah, yeah. Pretty sure I know how to ride. However in this forum you can visit the past and have a laugh.

I thought it was 31.8 but can't confirm (away from my bikes!)

The original collars are DKG and they in fact still have some in stock. There is a thread on FatCogs right now about this very thing. The rubber is not required, but the clamps with and without it are slightly different (with= taller clamp and groove for the rubber ring).

That green plastic gasket insert (rubber) sure does help to keep the crud and water out that will eventually rust out the bottom of your seat tube though..................at the BB.

That collar contributes to FATs rusting out in the st.
