Farewell NorCal

Well, it's official - I am no longer a resident of California as I sit here and type this from Park City. I have truly enjoyed my last month of riding with the NorCal MTBR crowd and am kicking myself for not checking out the forums sooner. I missed out on a TON of great riding with some great folks. :madman:

During my first trip to Demo a month ago, Francis told me that I was never going to want to leave after riding Demo - he was right. I would like to thank Tom (Rensho), Derek (Bustamove), Raymond, Gary (Finch Platte), Dan, Shiloh, Andy, Dwight, Bruce, Kyle (both max and less), Justin, and a host of others that I have been privileged to share trails with over the last month. (I apologize for leaving folks off of that list but the 850 miles are kicking my ass.) I had a phenomenal great last weekend of riding - that made getting in the car that much harder this morning. Dan, thank you for putting together yesterday's ride - I think that may be one of the best rides I've ever had.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::D:D:D:D:D Now I'm really kicking myself!

I would especially like to thank Francis for providing a forum where such a strong community can develop. As I posted in the other thread, I wish you the best in your recovery and wish I could be there for your comeback ride. (OT: would your mini have been headed west on 80 today up about 30 miles west of Truckee? I saw one that looked remarkably similar flying down about 1:00)

Oh, I almost forgot - Here's the cross country rig in all it's glory - the milage sucks, but it goes down the road pretty well with no complaints including the hills. It'll cruise right along at 80, but will get 10 mpg while doing it. I only went through 84 gallons of gas today...

Time to get in bed - heading to Omaha tomorrow.

Best wishes to you all - if I ever make it back, even for just a few days, I'm bringing a bike.

Chop-

Good luck to you and your family. And, where can I get me some of those pink streamers for my handle bars?

Shiloh
Greg,
It was a pleasure riding with you.
When you come back, look us up.
Good luck with the trip and the new home.

It was great to meet you the other day. I only got the gist of all of what you were saying about moving since I was just so spent from the ride.

Good luck!
right on greg. it was great spending time with you and having you here. I noticed your passion and attitude really energized these boards. I had to meet you. Seize the riding day I say... and you sure knew how to do that.

Spread the good word everywhere you go and make sure you visit your friends here in norcal!!

Oh that ain't me. I can't drive for a while so I had friends detail my cars and mothball them. It'll be an incentive to get healthy again.

Sad to see those cars in mothbals. But my incentive would be if someone did that to MY BIKES!.

My car? Wouldn't miss the POS. Oh, unless I needed to get to a distant trail head.

Greg, sorry to see you go just after we finally met. Life in the Navy I suppose.
Keep posting on NorCal.

You may want to talk to the mobile mechanic about adding a set to your configuration - they'd make you look even faster. I actually have a bet with my wife that there aren't any left by the time we hit VA. They fall out all the time all on their own, 80 mph can't be too kind to them, but it looks like they're holding up well.

I saw a bunch of bikes on cars this morning heading west in Wyoming and western Nebraska (a few Blurs, some Specialized and a couple of big bikes - not counting grandma's cruiser) I guess I really am headed in the wrong direction.

I will definitely look y'all up when I make it back - maybe MBTB at some point. This fall, I'll post some pictures of planes, water, and maybe sand. ;)

fc - now that I think about it (a little time on my hands today) I figured out it wasn't yours - it had Yakima fork trays. So no driving either? Damn, too bad you weren't loaning out the cars too... I'd have kept it detailed for you, but in VA. :p
Keep 'em even Bubblehead....

Good to meet you that day and good luck in your upcoming assignments... wherever they take you.

UB.
Great to ride

with you and meet you, Greg. Glad we could send you off with a smile :D. When you get to VA I am sure you will find some nice riding. If you get near Sugarland Run or Sterling, VA say hello for me, I used to live there in the mid 70's. Let us know how you are doing.

Dwight
