Falls City is definately a cool place. Lots of progessive stunts - you can go as big as you want or just cruise. The local riders put in many hours building and maintaining these trails, mostly during the week. Check out Santiambicycle.com and their message board for rides and trail maintenance. Santiam Bicycle is in Salem (about 15 minutes from Monmouth, and is a cool place to pick up hardcore parts and hang out.
this trail is AWESOME! One of my favorites....there's things for every skill level. But DO NOT go to John's cycles for directions....He has a lazy eye and will give you bad directions. Locals say he's "looney". Go in to Salem to Santiam Cycles. They can give you a map and basically a tour guide for the trail without even going to the trail with you. A must to ride.
Thanks for the info, I looked on there site and saw some pics. Looks awesome. and only like 25 mins from school for me....hmm I hope i can keep the grades up this semester. Hopefully i'll have my new ride by the time i head down there.
I live near Falls City

I live about ten miles south of Falls City in the Coast Range. It is one the best places on Earth for just about any type of riding. I moved here because the riding is so good. Most of the places I ride are never riden by anyone but me and deer. Just be careful of log trucks.
You live in a ghost town???? Is Hoskins populated?

Oh, to be on topic, Falls City riding is incredibly fun. I live in Corvallis.

I live here with the ghosts. I don't actually live in Hoskins but its the closest name on a map. I've ridden all over the world. In my opinion this is the BEST riding possible. I get to ride in all conditions and climates. I can do 10000 verticle feet in a day if I want to. I never see anyone much less another biker.
Other than Falls City, where do you ride? Mostly trails or fireroads? Who owns the land, i.e. Starker Forests, BLM, Willamette Industries, etc. Thanks for the info.

I just thought that it was kind of funny that the first site that came up in a google search of Hoskins was a listing of Ghost Towns. :)

Places to ride near Hoskins

Most of the riding I've been doing lately has been on private land owned by people who live near me. Mostly private tree farms on roads that haven't been used in a long time. There are some great places to ride in Boise Cascade land west of here and Oregon Dept of Forestry owns most of the top of Bonner Ridge. It can be really tough to find trails out here because there are so few people. I've had a lot of success following elk trails down from the top of Bonner Ridge to the Luckiamute River into Boise Cascade land. I've started following elk trails from the Fanno Ridge area west of Falls City, as well. I haven't found as many elk trails in the Fanno Ridge area for some reason.
