I have owned a lot of longer travel bikes in the past couple years but always felt that my calling was just as capable and now that Evil doesn’t make it anymore is there another bike in the market that anybody feels compares? I want to get a second bike that is short travel but just as aggressive and can do anything like the calling but I don’t see anything on the market that makes me think it will be as good.

Evil should take the front triangle of the Following and design 27.5 rear, just like they did using the Wreckoning FT to make the new Insurgent. I'm sure it's more cost effective than a complete redesign.
they could but, a 131 mm evil calling frame in alloy and steel for theyre first budget bike. 2500 dollars, marzocchi bomber z2, float dps, shimano deore 11 speed.

I still have mine, but have a wondering eye on a Rocky Mountain Element after the Pinkbike review. I’ll probably keep the Calling though. The bike feels more alive when I switch from my Ripmo af.

The Calling is one of a kind... that‘s why i still have mine and will likely never let it go.
I‘m with danglingmanhood though... never had a chance to ride the latest SC 5010 but it‘s probably very close to the Calling‘s character.

Everyone that sells a Calling… seems to regret it. I’m actually too tall for my XL Calling. But it’s such a ‘fun’ bike that I can’t bring myself to part ways with it. Eventually I need to find a ‘fun’ bike that fits better to replace it. I’m doing most of my rides on a XXL Tallboy these days. Pulled the Calling out for a ride last night though, thing always turns heads I’m going to use all weekend chasing our team around at our High School MTB races.

I still have my Callings (yes, I have 2). The new Pivot 27.5 bike did look good though. But not good enough to draw me from the dark side.
pivot doesnt work for me, i had a firebird and never got along with it-though the latest iteriation witht he vetical shock looks great. i like evil suspension, pivot always felt too harsh not matter what i did. i also demoed a new switchblade at south mountain and was not liking it.

something about that bike is unique and i also cant imagine santa cruz captures it with a 5010, suspension platform is too different

Reason why the Calling feels more lively is that it has a relatively short wheelbase with short chainstays. Bikes now are so long that it takes more effort to lift the bike off the ground.

I've been keeping my eye out for a used Calling frame...I don't see them come around too often.

What size are you looking for? There's a bunch on pinkbike... could always ask if they'll sell just a frame.

I wouldnt dare sell my calling. Im currently debating buying a 29er to pair it with - looking at the Offering and Ripmo but my calling has been long stroked to 143 and 150 up front and its simply too. much. fun.
