Always good to see stuff like this repurposed. I’ve been using eye drop bottles for the same thing for years.

I just buy one of the little small sample-bottle lubes, then I use up the "sample" and put motor oil in there, because on a mucky muddy ride, nothing works as well as motor oil at mile 30.

Forgot to oil my chain before a ride. Didn't make noise for the first hour. But an hour or so of that horrible noise and my friend yelled at me to pull over. He pulled out his lip balm and rubbed it on the chain.

It worked.

Expensive though.

better yet, don't buy them. get them as handouts from various bike events.

I carry a 4oz bottle of T9 in my pack. It's been in there for eight years now. I need to go through the pack. It's more of a mess than my wifes purse.

I just keep pedaling till it sounds better…

if that doesn’t work, just buy a new bike.
Might have to try this for lubing rims prior to building:unsure:

This thread turned out tamer than I expected from just the title.

Exactly where mine came from... Just slightly bulky for everyday carry that you only need rarely.

In Pisgah on a ride with a dozen stream crossings, that's not so rare.

Can covid survive Rock n Roll Extreme?
I'd like to read that study.

This one time, at Amelia in S. FL...we had no chain lube. I was visiting a buddy (I live out of State) and riding a borrowed bike. Since we had no lube, we just used engine oil from the rental car. Used the dipstick to apply the oil to the chain. Hey, it worked!

I’ve never had the urge to have anal sex in the middle of a ride, but a tiny bit is all I would need.

I do, and at one point was looking for mini tubes, and duh I have many of those used test tubes in my trash. Going to dig them out now.
