I'd appreciate some general guidelines for how to think about depreciation/changes in technology. I've searched the forum and it looks like 1/2 MSRP is a rule of thumb for a 1-3 year old bike, but once we get to bikes a little older I have no idea.

All else being equal, has technology changed enough that the stock parts on a 2000 are not comparable to the stock parts on a 2006?

I'm going to check out a bike tomorrow evening. What would be a reasonable price to ask on a well-maintained 2000 Gary Fisher Hoo Koo E Koo (original price $800)?

Thanks
