Hello all.

When I ride I tend to grip the handle bar right into the lower part of my palm. During riding after all the bumps and rough trails my hands hurt.

Anyone have any experience with some comfort grips? Or can anyone recommend a set?

You are right the ergons are pricey. It really is a just a function of shape though. That bulge is where your palm sits, so pressure is spread out over a lot bigger area than with a round grip. I'm sure those WTB's would be good. Specialized has some now too.
I used the Serfas connector grip for a long time. I thought it was about as comfy as my ergons.

Do any of these manufacturers have grips compatible with grip shifters? I'm having trouble finding any.
Ergon makes gripshift models, but I bought a regular set and cut them short for grip shift.
The Serfas I posted above could be cut as well, since they have a clamp only on the outside.
In fact even the WTB's could be cut. Grips with 2 clamps don't really need both. You could cut the inside clamp off to shorten them and the outside clamp would hold them sufficiently well.
