There's a creaking-sound coming from the support brace that connects the top-tube to the seat-post tube, on my 2005 S-Works Epic. On the outside, everything looks fine, and I haven't had any serious wipeouts. Anyone else experience this??? And before the fat jokes start rolling-in, I'm 5'6" 150lbs. Taking the bike to the dealer on Monday, to see what they say...

under what circumstances does it creak? i would check the saddle, seatpost, seatpost clamp and seat tube-seat stay link. i'd also clean the suspect area well and under bright light and a magnifying glass, inspect for cracks at the welds (if there is one, it would be right at the edge of the weld).

Hey Cyco-Dude,

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, everytime I'm on the saddle pedaling-away, the creaking noise is evident (and totally irritating!!!). When I first started hearing the creak, I thought it was coming from the cranks or bottom-bracket, so I took the bike back to the dealer, but they couldn't find anything abnormal. Then I started to think that the creak was coming from the handlebar/stem area, but couldn't find anything wrong there, either. Finally, yesterday at the pre-ride for today's WORS race, I discovered that the creaking noise was coming from the support-brace. Like I said, everything on the outside looks fine, but it's what I can't see on the inside that has me worried. Tomorrow, I'll be taking the bike back to the dealer, just to get their take on it. I'll post back when I learn more.

My Enduro Expert was creaky and the seatpost was the problem. The top piece that fits onto the tube was not snug and after a few months of riding the post is now worthless. I am getting a new post this week and I expect the creak to be gone. LBS says it happens but I am disappointed that an expensive bike aimed at aggressive all mountain riding would have a post that can't stand up to what the bike is meant for.

Overall I love the bike (except for the squeeky grabby juicy brakes).

My 05 S-works was doing that, too. I took out the BB, cleaned and lubed it. No joy. Seatpost? Nope. Finally disassembled the entire rear triangle and cleaned and lubed the pivot bolts and connectors. Silence. Now if I could only figure out why by disc brakes are howling....
