cables

Interesting that on Spesh's website pictures of the Epics the cables are on top and on the actual bikes the cables are routed underneath......

Are those XO twisters on your '06 Epic?

I guess Lafawnduh had upgraditis and upgraded almost every part except for the front fork. Except he went to cable disk brakes....

Upgraditis is a disease, I had one too. :p

I sold the Mavic 317s on ebay for $80.00 less than my cost to build the mavic 819s. I use sram stuff so after I got the XO stuff on Internet blowouts and sold the Shimano stuff on ebay I was only down another $90.00. The bars, seat post and saddle are all off my old Specialized bike that cracked. When I received the new frame from Specialized that too sold on ebay for over $600.00. This epic model came with the mechanical disc brakes. To make a long story after I sold stuff off the bike, used what I had, and did a little upgrading I got exactly what I wanted at a very reasonable price. I love the new cable routing. I only got 50 miles on this bike before the crap winter weather hit. Hope the sun comes out soon…………… :)

Sram

I went with SRAM XOs also - shifting the front der with Shimano feels like its way too far. Plus I like being able to dial the front der in as I move through the cassette. Saves 150g too - extra bonus.

One reason upgraditis happens on the low end bikes is because they are equipped with such heavy parts. The stem, bars, seat, post, pedals - all really heavy. You can lose a pound and a half with some easy switch outs.
