Epic TDF cycling film for free

Here it is, the Team CSC film of the 2003 Tour de France. And it's yours free cause your sitting in front of the computer on this cold winter day.

It's a great film in English and Danish. It focuses on Bjarne Riis, Tyler Hamilton and the CSC team as they struggle through the 2003 TDF. CSC is the greatest team in cycling (along with Team Discovery) as they extract greatness from each of their cyclists. I knew Bjarne Riis was a great manager but in this film, you see how good he really is. Enjoy:

The stream is 250mb big. it's a good idea to pause the film for 30 minutes to let it load up before you watch it.

Another great film is the IMAX movie Wired to Win. This too focuses on the 2003 TDF. It's got a huge budget and has the greatest cycling footage ever captured on film. They too focused on Tyler Hamilton as he worked through his broken collarbone. They had to throw that away when Tyler tested positive for drugs. IMAX films are produced through many foundation grants and they cannot risk drug associations. They had to find and alternate story with Jimmy Casper and his team mate. Anyway, it just opened in select cities. SEE IT if it's open in your city:

Hey cool! It's playing in Vancouver now, so I'll have to get down to there.

Kn.
can't get the linky to work for the tdf flik??

I was really looking forward to the IMAX movie w/Tyler's story--wasnt it going to be called "brainpower"? Oh well if I bump into this 1 I might see it.

I just tried it and it comes up with a window saying 'launch application, yes/no'. Do you get that? It then launches windows media player.

The IMAX movie canned any mention of Tyler. The CSC movie above though is all about Tyler. We can have our cake and eat it too.

Is this working for anyone else?? It's truly a great film. I can't believe we can access it over the web. The 2004 versions is called 'Overcoming' and it's for sale for $40.

Bjarne Riis is the greatest Team Director. Even better than Bruyneel I think. Watch and see. The emotion and compassion in this team is really a revelation.

alas--all I get is a "page can't be displayed". I dont think my browser understands a web address beginning with mms----I tried www etc etc before it, instead of it...still no go.
Francois, edit the link

Remove the mms:// from the beginning of the link and then it works fine. Don't replace it with anything, it's just like http://, not really needed.
watching it right now. Great timing! I was bored outta my mind...
Great film..Riis is fantastic. It's refreshing to see a TdF feature that shows the struggle behind the event without the LA focus. So many great stories.

My hats off to riders of this calibre. They just look wasted the entire time.

And it worked for me no prob w/out the edit.
bummer. the IMAX film isn't coming to Atlanta. :(

rt - will have to try to download the film on my home computer.
2003 TDF is the greatest tour of all time... of all time...

If you watch the film, it's helpful to open up the cycling news stage profile and results:

It'll fill in some of the language gaps and will give insight to the race details.

We should get a group together and head down to see it on the holiday.
Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but I really hope that someone's able to capture that streaming video as a stand-alone file. Honestly, I'm not sure how many people have the time to sit in front of their computers for 30 minutes straight to watch that movie. I know I don't...
exactly..

and esp since it doesnt stream smoothly even on DSL.
so I suppose wait til it completely finishes and hit play again---could open a new window and browse something else I suppose while waiting for it to run through in stutter mode the first time---but it would be best to have as a download file--even if it's like the uci mtb championships a while back and costs a couple a bucks if it's that good. So until then, I won't bother.

Bad news.

It's 59 minutes long ;-).

Also, no bad hiccuping problem on my end. Went pretty smooth. YMMV.
Use this nifty tool

to download onto the computer. I then burned it onto a DVD for my kids to watch.
