Entry Level Bike Recommendations

632 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Qatarbhoy
Hi,

I'm new to MTBR and I'm looking for some help regarding a new bike purchase. After doing some research I've narrowed my choice to two entry level bikes. The Haro Flightline 1 & Trek's 820. I'm new to the mountain biking scene and I'm looking for a quality bike to get me started. I am 5'11", 200lbs and I'm looking to do some trail and urban rides. Any comments, suggestions, reviews would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help in advance.

the truth

The truth about any bike purchase is it is all about comfort and fit. Ride both. See which you feel most comfortable, stable and happy with. If you get a bike that is uncomfortable, you wont ride it... no matter how great the components or deal is.

Good luck!

Absolutely correct. Both of those bikes are good, solid entry level rigs. Get the one that feels good, and don't be surprised if you end up getting a different bike altogether. Ride as many as you can within your budget and then do what glueslug suggests. :)
Thanks

Glueslug, Swthrtsuzy thanks for your input. I really appreciate it.
Good luck and let us know what bike you end up getting. :)
You sound like you're willing to make a commitment to it, so I'd advise going for a Trek 3900 at least. It's noticeably better than the 820 without breaking the bank and will last.
