Hey guys,

I have been using a bulky u-lock but as to be expected, the mounting bracket has eventually snapped due to my Enduro style riding.

Due to the weight distribution of all u-locks, I would assume that all mounting brackets are the weak spots and so all are likely to eventually break.

Therefore I have narrowed my search down to the following two locks that I have had my eye on for sometime:

Abus Bordo Granit X-Plus 6500/85
Litelok Gold M

The Litelok can be worn around the waist but I would definitely want it on the bike via the two velcro straps until I can come up with a more elegant solution.

This size Abus can apparently be screwed in place of the water cage which I would presume should minimise any pivot points.

Just wondering what other Enduro style riders thoughts were regarding the efficiency and longevity of these attachments to the bike when bombing downhill and needing to occasionally lock-up to quickly grab a drink.

Also, if any similar style riders have any amazing ideas as to how to attach u-locks, foldables or the Litelok to a bike then I would also really appreciate your thoughts.

Huge thanks in advance for anyone that can spare a few moments.

Cheers!

I have neither. I'm considering those locks or similar but so far haven't pulled the trigger on anything. I don't plan on fastening them to the bike.

The Abus is nearly 4 lb. If I were going to fasten it to the bike, I'd be inclined to mount it using two rubberized straps of the type used to fasten a spare tube/inflator to the frame rather than some rigid mounting. I imagine something similar cold be done with the other coiling it up.
