And then along came Nate...

...and even *more* doors were opened.

First few rides it was kinda hard to wrap my head around all that traction, from all those knobs. Now that I've gotten used to it, I'm not quite sure what to do with it. Our trails just don't require that much grip!

Starting to thinker up some places to take this setup where it can truly shine. Which has also made me start to thinker about how to improve the overall package. Could be time for V2...

That's a perfect setup for that bike. I can't imagine the grip. I've talked to Moots a few times, but they really don't want to build anything like this for the general customer. Any tricks to getting this done?

Its nice to know what folks are doing and all but its just a tease. Like that girl back in high school.

Too much ketchup now with Surly pulling away into the future and bringin' it to the masses.

Just pulled trigger on a set of Nates fo myself. Thanks Surly.

Evolution.

A veritable storm of ideas coalesced inside my noggin late last summer, all related to where I want to take this bike the next few years, and what needed to change (on the bike) in order to enable it all to happen.

The sticking point has always been the fork--the bike was originally designed around the Maverick SC32, but I never even liked it, and I certainly didn't love it enough to keep it.

So I moved on to the Maverick DUC, and that was a BIG improvement in chassis stiffness and damping--in fact it's not a stretch to say that I *loved* what the DUC did for this bike. But the DUC has a fatal flaw--very limited tire clearance. Where I'm going I need float, which means I needed more tire clearance.

MCS was kind enough to offer a set of Lefty clamps but I had something else in mind.

First things first--the patient needed a 'procedure' so that she could be fitted for an organ transplant.

Buckled her down good:

Off with her head!

New head sewn on:

But something's different--obviously. What? Why?

All the hints you need are right here:

One more hint--and this one's almost a dead giveaway--comes from the title of this post.
