We got to see the new Ellsworth Epiphany 275 and Carbon Evolve 29er in person. The Epiphany is quite stunning and it has the same wheelbase and chainstay length as the old 26er version. Bottom Bracket height is the same as well, so it should handle very similar to the competent Epiphany 26er. But it will now have tires that are 40% bigger. This is a great execution of the promise of 650b bikes. Very similar feel and agility as the 26er but much better traction and obstacle rolling ability.

Seatpost size is still 27.2 so most of the dropping seatposts will not fit, but there's a few available like the X-Fusion Hilo (as pictured) that will work.

San Diego - (September 13, 2012) - Ellsworth Handcrafted Bicycles will go BIG at Interbike in Las Vegas, September 19-21, unveiling the new Carbon Evolve, a gorgeous all carbon frame version of the popular Evolve 29er, and the Epiphany 275, which "upsizes" Ellsworth's award-winning "holy grail of trail bikes" to a 27.5" (or 650B) wheeled model.

The Carbon Evolve is based on the legendary XC and endurance racing geometry of Ellsworth's famous Truth model. The bike is crafted from Aerospace Toray carbon, compacted at over 300 psi, which is almost 3x the industry standard for carbon imported from China. The Rare Earth Carbon frame design features force directional carbon shapes and lay patterns with internal cable routing to protect cables from the elements.

Available in 100 and 120 mm versions, the Carbon Evolve features precision-machined rockers, a swaged and shaped (SS) hydro-formed aluminum chain stay which is lighter and more durable than an equivalent carbon chain stay, and Ellsworth's fully active, internationally patented ICT suspension system, for uncompromised efficiency, control and ride quality. The bike features an elegant two-tone black and white matte finish with new Ellsworth frame graphics. MSRP - frame only - $2,995; complete bikes - X9 kit $4,695; XT $5,695; and XTR Pro $7,495. Available November 2012.

The Epiphany 275 brings the handling stability and lightness of Ellsworth best-selling 140mm Epiphany XC trail bike to the world of 27.5" or 650b wheels," said Tony Ellsworth, founder of Ellsworth Handcrafted Bicycles. "This beauty combines bigger wheels with the longer travel, and light weight of the Epiphany to produce the ultimate Enduro machine. The Epiphany is light enough to race XC, but comfortable enough to ride all day in any terrain."

The 275 features a 68 degree head angle, 140mm of rear travel coupled with the flick able yet relaxed geometry for 150mm Fox 34mm front fork. The Epiphany 275 comes standard with the ultra-lightweight carbon shock stay for the lightest unsprung weight, maximizing the fully active action of the ICT rear suspension, without compromising the stiffness. The Epiphany 275 continues the Ellsworth tradition of Handmade in the USA with aerospace aluminum, shot peened, anodized and laser etched, all here in Southern California. MSRP - frame only - $2,695; Complete bikes - X9 kit $4,695; XT $5,695; and XTR Pro $7,495. Available November 2012.

In addition to the introduction of the Evolve Carbon and Epiphany 275, Ellsworth's 2013 all carbon Enlightenment 29er firm tail bike will be sporting new two toned black and white matte finish and outstanding frame graphics. The company's 2013 lineup will also include Truth (XC), Epiphany 26, Evolve and Evolution 29ers (trail), Moment (all mountain), Momentum (slope style), Method (freeride) and Dare (downhill).
