That is correct... sort of. Bowen ranch refers to one small area of the NE trails that is/was leased for cattle ranching. Bowen ranch is used as a staging area for races and that's the only time it's open to cars. The NE trails are part of Franklin State Park and also go by Chuck Heinrich park. The west side of the state park is know as Tom May's unit. You can loop around the entire park via Mundy's Gap on the south side and Northern Pass/Hitt Canyon on the north. It's about a 30 mile ride with over 4,000 feet of climbing.I believe the trails off mlk that kinsler is referring to are part of the bower ranch complex which is in Franklin Mntn State Park and yes there are many loop options.
