My el moco's that came stock on my sl seem to be delaminating between the tread and the sidewall? I bought my sl in july of 10.
Anyone have this problem? I emailed Kenda for service-assuming they dont warranty them, whats a good light am tire for the northeast thats tubeless compatible and not going to break the bank?

So what are some tubeless compatible treads that are light and good for the northeast.

Really ? so kenda doesn't make tubeless tires then ?

I'm using a El Moco 2.35 on the front which I recently converted to tubeless (a real pain as the edges on my old tire didn't want to seal without a lot of work, and still leak small amount after a few weeks). Hoping I won't get a delaminate issue...

On the back, I've been running cross mark LUST 2.1 with 0 leak issues for a long time now. But it's time to change it

They make UST tires, but unless the tire is specifically labeled "SCT" (sealant compatible tire) then using any sealant will void the warranty.

The SCT thing is new, and they're offering it in most of their cross/mountain tires. I'm not sure what the availability is like.

If you have an issue, I'd still call them up though. Just because they're covering their butts doesn't mean they won't help out.

They were very very quick and helpful to replace the tire.
The only downside is that I have to dismount and destroy the delamed tire and show them a picture.
The downside part of that is then remounting the replacement tire (when it arrives) and sealing it with stans stuff.
Messy, time consuming.

But it might be the thing to get me through the last few weeks of this winter and ready for the spring riding.

So no northeast tire selections from the peanut gallery?

No recs from me. I ran the Kenda Nevegals and tried several tires to try to reduce weight and rolling resistance. Every time, I went back to the Nevagals. The El Moco's came with my Ibis and I am happy enough with them that they are the only tire so far that I haven't replaced with Nevegals.

I do like the Maxxis Ignitors on my single speed, and I'm sure that they would be fine in dry summers. But I'm pretty sure that I'd be putting the El Moco's back on when riding wet technical trails.

The next tire I might try would be the Maxxis Ardent or Advantage. I'm afraid that they might be as slow as the Nevegals. On my downhill bike, 2.4 Advantages didn't seem to stick as well as 2.5 Nevegals, but they might be fine for an all mountain bike.

Case closed. Stefano took care of me quickly and without any hassle. I just had to show him the picture and send the casing numbers and he even fedexed me a new nevegal (after I asked for a ust compatible tire instead of a straight replacement)
Thats good stuff.
