Sorry if this has been answered before, but can someone tell me why the frameset states 2.3" max tire clearance while the El Mar complete bike has 2.55" tires?

The 2.3 is a mistake. Where did you see that? Salsa site? I'll check.

The EM easily clears the WTB 2.55. That said, the WTB isn't really a 2.55 either. It's more like slightly bigger volume 2.3.

well, the salsa site says 2.4"

but various other online vendors were showing 2.3"

seems as if webcyclery has just changed theirs to say "2.55" with room to spare"
