Hey Everyone, I've been using SPD's for as long as I can remember. I just got a set of eggbeater pedals and I'm not sure what do look for to tell if I need the shim. Can anyone give me some sort of concrete thing to look for? If it helps, I have Bontrager RXL shoes and I have a relatively easy time clipping in. Thanks guys!

Yeah, what he said. I've been using Eggbeaters for 6+ years and am currently riding with Sidi Dominator shoes. I use the thin plastic shim to help get the cleat off the sole a little bit more. If you are able to clip in and out without feeling what would be your sole bottoming out on the pedal, than you do not need shims.
