I have never bought anything from ebay so I would say my experience in minimal.

So I was looking at some bike on there and broused over the bid history of some and noticed that you hav people bidding multiple times in a row???

This one guy bid like 8 times in a row, why would someone do this??

Am I missing something, Please explain

Proxy bidding

If I bid $100 on a fork, it may tell me that I've been automatically outbid by userX because while the current bid is $95, his MAX bid is $150. Bid now stands at $105. I bid again, $110. I am again outbid by userX automatically. Etc.

This is the way proxy bidding works. You put in your max bid, and the application automatically outbids any subsequent users up to your max.

The way ebay works ..you should only bid your max price you are willing to pay in the last few minutes of the auction

all those concurrent earlier bids are just pushing the price up.

yup...but people are stupid and like to jack up the price  :D
If you think about it, if all those people bid at the end with their max, it would still be high.
