Both pretty light. Some good closeout deals on both right now.

Anyone ridden/owned both that can compare and contrast.

Any other options for light stiff XC wheelset in the 1500-1750 gr range that isn't too expensive and can take some abuse?

Been running a Velocity VXC with WTB Laser Lite Disc hubs (Am Classic) for awhile and they've been pretty good though I've destroyed by second freehub body and it's time to move on.
Thanks.

I have the Zonos wheels on my bike. They go 1900 grams for the set w/o rotors & skewers.

Bomb proof.

A couple weeks ago my rear derailleur got shoved into the spokes. Broke the der hanger, broke the chain. The wheels came away with one slightly bent spoke and a slight wobble.

I should also mention that I'm 200 lbs and ride rough rocky stuff.

Jeffw, thanks for that confirmation. No wheel should be expected to survive that. I have also been looking for new wheels, and have been heavily considering the cane creeks. Durability is one of my primary concerns, I eat mavic rims for breakfast, if I stare at a set of 717s a little cross eyed they bend. If i could afford it I would go with DT swiss. I hope there are still close out zonos disc wheels in a couple months when I have the cash rounded up.

Lots of deals out there
Bicycle Wheel Warehouse has the 4.2 XTR for a great deal ($265?),
also look at the Dt swiss 1540 and 1450 at Chainreaction.
as noted above CR also has good deals on Hope pro 2 builds.
