East side of Cascades riding

My family and I are trying to put together a vacation over to the east side Wenatchee or something to do some riding in spring. A few questions:

Are trails ridable in spring time (March-April)? Or just wet or unpleasant?
Should we look in Wenatchee or is there a better locale with nice trails (not looking for north shore type trails but more nice long scenic loops if possible.
Any other suggestions on doing this? We are temperature wussies so summer riding would be too hot for our rain soaked hides.

It's a little early and highly variable depending on the snow season. The Horse Lake/Sage Hills trails above Wenatchee are closed until April 1 and maybe longer depending on conditions. Freund Canyon? Maybe. #2 Canyon usually starts riding decently late April. Anything higher will still be under snow. Ask again in March :)

Ancient Lakes and some of the trails a little further east should be rideable.

Trails in Kittitas County will be under snow or too muddy.
How about in May? Memorial weekend time? Was thinking about the Wenatchee Confluence Park for a stay and riding around there. Looks like there are a bunch of trails just out of town over there per Trailforks.
May is the sweet spot. Take a look at the 2021 ride reports on Trailforks for the area around Wenatchee and you'll see what I mean. Confluence Park will be packed that weekend, get a reservation if they take them or get there early.
Don’t miss Freund Canyon outside Leavenworth. Crazy fun!

I rode out at Potholes Lakes and east of Wenatchee but that was in 1993. I'd check a site like MTB Project. I do remember that it was cold AF out there and the ground was frozen. I was 22 and didn't care though.
Check out #2 canyon, new trails up there. If you have kids then take them to Squilchuck State Park for some fun stuff, after which if head to the Methow and ride the rest of the week 👍

Freund is okay, the up is double track, the down is repurposed double track turned into flow.

Lots of eastern WA trails are old moto trails, so they get rutted and dusty fast, you ought to be okay but keep this in mind if you see a trail that is straightish looking on trail forks 🤣

It’ll be too early for the high alpine stuff like Angels Staircase.

Number 2 Canyon is kind of meh in my opinion. Lots of tight corners with not much berm to them makes for pretty slow riding. Better have a high-clearance vehicle...

Sage Hills is a good option in Wenatchee.

Squilchuck is good fun for a family and highly recommended.

The climb up Fruend Canyon has been converted to singletrack for the most part. I remember the double-track days. It's a good bit of a climb, but a real hoot on the down. The new climbing trail from the ski hill only goes a bit over halfway up on Fruend. I much prefer going up from the Fruend Canyon Road, although parking is scarce.

It kind of stinks that we're having such a cold and wet spring. Hopefully it will be warmer on the eastside.
