E150 air cartridge

it's a 2009 cartridge that loses air intermittently. Seems that if I ride real hard at a gnarly trail, it loses air. Rode the other day, got home and a few hrs later most of the air was gone. Pump it up and it's holding air no problem. I will be taking the air piston out to inspect and seal the threads on it and also check the oring. What makes me go hmmm is the previous owner took it apart when it was close to new and changed the piston (not sure why). Figured I'd see if anyone else had this issue before I rip into it. FYI, I'm about ready to throw a Fox 36 on this gun boat. Getting real tired of jerking off my E150:nono:

Generally it is where the piston threads on the shaft and where the piston seats on the shaft.------( I will bet when the previous owner or shop changed the piston it was not sealed correctly )
Every once in awhile it is the "O" on the piston , or the "O" ring on the end cap, or even a schradder valve core .

I like to pressure test the cartridges under soapy water and see if I can detect any leaks anywhere,

Then I will inspect all the sealing areas , lube and replace "O" rings and reseal the piston with blue locktight and replace the schradder valve core .

p.s. If you get a fox 36, do not get a TALAS travel adjust fork.
I get more of these with way more problems that you could imagine.

The fixed travel 36 is not to bad , ---However I have one of those that has come appart after 2 months use :madman:

All these componets need to T.L.C. to get them perfect

Cool, I'll look at all those things mentioned. I replaced the easiet part already, the valve core, but still the same. I have another cartridge that seems good so I;'ll put that in and fiddle with this one.
I was also thinking a Lyrik but I haven't heard anything good or bad about them.
