I am building a bike for my wife and I have decided to try the E Thirteen Helix R 12 speed cassette. When I install it and the chain is in the smallest cog (9T) the chain rubs on the derailleur hangar.

i have tried a Sram Eagle cassette on the same wheelset and it works fine. I have also tried the Helix cassette on another wheelset on my wife’s bike and I get the same problem, so it seems to be the cassette rather than the frame or hub.

looking at it, there is fractionally less end cap showing with the Helix cassette installed compared to the Sram.

Any thoughts on why/how this could be and how it can be fixed?

I have the Helix 11 speed, but with the same 9 tooth high gear. My only thought might be either the chain being too long (no tension on the derailleur), or maybe your H limit screw isn't set quite right.

Thanks for coming back to me. It turns out it was a rookie mistake. I just had to push harder when installing the cassette and it moved down another 1-2mm giving the clearance needed.
